At one point in history one of the few ways to end a marriage was through proof that it has not been "consummated" which was a tactic employed by both men and women eager to dissolve a marriage. A recent court case revived some of this flavor and brought it to the next level in granting a wife 10,000 euros or $13,790 in damages from her ex-husband based on him failing to have enough sex with her over the length of the 21 year marriage, an affront to article 215 of French civil code, which states married couples must agree to a "shared communal life."
