The Icecreamists, a London based ice cream salon founded by Matt O'Connor, recently began selling a new flavor of ice cream called the "Baby Gaga" made out of 75% breast milk enriched ice cream that sells for £14 (almost $23) a serving. The recipe is made with pasteurized breast milk, Madagascan vanilla pods and lemon zest. Breast milk donors can receive £15 for every 10 ounces of milk and over 200 volunteers have come forward since its launch."The Icecreamists founder Matt O'Connor said: 'If it's good enough for our children, it's good enough for the rest of us,' he said."
While O'Connor maintains he used the highest standards of health screening, using the same process the NHS uses to screen blood donors, his breast milk ice cream was confiscated by the borough council over fears that the ice cream could contain hepatitis viruses.The samples are currently awaiting testing. The Icecreamists website has the following parental advisory: "our lick your addiction treatment programme contains some medications with alcohol that carry an 18 rating reading materials carry a parental advisory sticker and contain sexual satirical and political content."
