In our exhibition Kink: Geography of the Erotic Imagination based on the book Deviant Desires by Katharine Gates, the world of kink and fetish was organized by materials, their scent and our associated relationship to these items. Leather has always featured high on the list...think of it this way, leather is used in many kink practices... from the leather cuffs used in a BDSM situation, to the infatuation with a woman in leather high heels to the smell of a leather saddle used in Pony Play. It is not surprising the name of this scent is Riding Crop.
